Purchasing Manager    

Calne, Wiltshire


This position is full time, permanent and office based.

37.5 hours per week.

Monday to Thursday 08:00 -16:30

Friday 08:00 – 13:00

I have been instructed by our client to recruit a Purchasing Manager to report to the General Manager.    

The purpose of this position will be to develop and maintain supply chain strategy, policy, working practices and direction to the supply chain function plus Inventory management reporting.

Key Responsibilities and duties include the following:

  • Establish supply chain strategy and devolve this through plans, objectives, policies and practices.
  • Provide Effective Inventory and Demand management.
  • Ensure surplus and excess material associated with each customer is managed effectively.
  • Provide management of all logistics, purchasing and inventory management functions to ensure cost, quality and time scales satisfy the business targets.
  • Ensure all Purchasing, Supplier Approval, Quality processes current and up to date.
  • Communicate and liaise with customers and suppliers on new programme introductions and cost reduction programs.
  • Analyse supply chain business processes to drive continuous improvement projects across all areas and lead on supply chain business improvement projects.
  • Manage costing, commercial and sourcing requirements of the business.

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Preferably educated to degree level and/or MCIPS qualified.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ senior supply chain management background
  • Excellent MRP and supply chain systems knowledge.
  • Excellent knowledge of Inventory management processes and control.
  • Excellent knowledge of Supply Chain Management strategy, processes and controls.
  • Excellent communicator at all levels internally and externally with supplier and customers.
  • Good analytical ability.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Computer literate and experience/good working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Experience in electronics supply chain environment is essential
  • Experience of a fast-moving manufacturing environment preferable
